Job summary

The Excelsior Academy in London is seeking a Student Manager to join the pastoral team on maternity cover. You will support a cohort of students, work with parents and external agencies, and help maintain high standards of behaviour, attendance and academic progress.

Key duties include implementing the behaviour policy, reporting to parents, and participating in safeguarding and student wellbeing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with students, families and staff.
• Able to manage a varied and demanding workload with organisation.
• Experience with young people in a school or similar setting (desirable).
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and pastoral support for a cohort to promote behaviour and welfare.
• Implement the school's behaviour policy and provide daily student support.
• Act as first contact for parents and help identify students needing intervention.
• Build relationships with families and liaise with external agencies.
• Support transitions from Year 6 and to post-16 providers.
• Assist with reporting to parents through DPR and parents' evenings.
• Maintain accurate records and produce written reports as required.
• Contribute to extra-curricular activities and student leadership initiatives.
• Lead home visits and initiatives to improve attendance and engagement.
• Supervise lunchtimes and support a safe school environment.
