Job summary

Workington Academy in the United Kingdom is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to mentor students, support attendance and wellbeing, and collaborate with families and staff to overcome barriers to learning.

You will implement behaviour strategies, monitor progress and contribute to a positive school culture. This maternity cover offers development opportunities, wellbeing initiatives and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting.
• Able to build positive relationships with students and families.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, consistent and resilient in challenging situations.
• Understanding safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
• Commitment to helping all students achieve success.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring and pastoral support to identified students.
• Work proactively with students to improve behaviour, engagement and attitudes to learning.
• Support the implementation of behaviour strategies and interventions.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress against agreed targets.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and external agencies.
• Assist with attendance improvement strategies and safeguarding procedures as required.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive school culture.
