Job summary

The University of Sheffield requires a Wellbeing Adviser to promote healthy engagement and support student wellbeing across faculties. You will be the link between faculties and central Student Health, Wellbeing and Support Service, providing signposting, initial appointments and psychoeducational groups.

We expect experience in wellbeing or mental health work, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle risk and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Experience in wellbeing or mental health work.
  • Knowledge of student wellbeing issues and impact on students.
  • Experience designing or facilitating groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Experience handling risk and knowing when to elevate concerns.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including report writing.
  • Collaborative working across faculties and central teams.
  • Good note-keeping and IT skills, including Office and Google apps.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for student wellbeing and promote healthy engagement with university life.
  • Signpost students to wider support services when appropriate.
  • Plan, develop and deliver psychoeducational groups and wellbeing programmes.
  • Design and deliver wellbeing initiatives and support mental health promotion events.
  • Triage new referrals with the mental health and counselling team.
  • Maintain records in line with service protocols and protect confidentiality.
  • Deliver training or information sessions to staff or student audiences.
  • Build relationships with colleagues across faculties and central teams.
