Job summary

Lancaster University is recruiting a Student Wellbeing Adviser (1.0 FTE, fixed term to 30 April 2027) within Student Wellbeing Services. You will provide high-quality wellbeing and/or mental health support to students through proactive and preventative interventions and campaigns, group sessions and one-to-one sessions.

The role supports a business partner model to ensure integrated wellbeing across colleges and departments, with training funded for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Qualifications

• No prior qualifications are required, but training for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) qualification or equivalent may be funded by the University.
• We would also welcome applications from those that feel they already hold appropriate qualifications.

• The Student Wellbeing Partnership Service is responsible for facilitating the identification and support of students who may require short-term additional support at university, many of whom will be from non-traditional backgrounds or may have enhanced needs, to help ensure maximum student success.

Location: Lancaster. Open to flexible working arrangements e.g. flexible start/finish times and blended remote/office working (typically four days on campus, one day working from home if desired).

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Widening Participation and Early Intervention Service as a Student Wellbeing Adviser. This service works in partnership with our colleges and academic departments to enable us to provide holistic wellbeing support to students. It is focused on promoting positive wellbeing, and providing prevention and early intervention support for students. The service will deliver awareness raising and promotional campaigns, targeted group interventions for particular student cohorts and communities, and offer mild to moderate short-term mental health interventions and advice to students.

You will provide high-quality wellbeing and/or mental health support to students through proactive and preventative interventions and campaigns, group sessions and events, and student one-to-one sessions. Our aim is to help students have positive experiences, feel included and valued, and ensure an integrated and consistent approach to wellbeing support across all university departments and colleges through delivery of a business partner model. Our team of Student Wellbeing Advisers are formed of a blend of roles with different skills and expertise. No prior qualifications are required, but we would like all team members to be prepared to undertake training for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) qualification or equivalent; this would be funded by the University. We would also welcome applications from those that feel they already hold appropriate qualifications.
