Job summary

University of Exeter is seeking a Welfare Consultant for a part-time 0.8FTE maternity cover, based across Streatham and St Lukes campuses. The role involves evening work (until 7pm) on some days and one weekend in four (9-5). DBS check required. Salary starts at bottom of Grade F (pro-rata).

The post sits in Wellbeing Services within Education and Academic Services, offering pastoral and welfare support to students and collaboration with staff across campuses.

Qualifications

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a resilient, solution‑focused approach are essential.
• Ability to provide first response and coordinate welfare support with colleagues and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact during the evening shift and respond to student welfare concerns.
• Coordinate appropriate Support and signpost to specialist services as needed.
• Liaise with university staff, security and external agencies to ensure student safety.
• Provide advice and support to staff and contribute to policy development.
