Responsibilities

• Provide individual support, guidance and coaching to students across the College, maintaining confidential records of disclosures and concerns.
• Develop, implement and monitor the health and welfare services available for students; make recommendations to maintain high-quality service.
• Act as the lead professional for safeguarding, liaising with external agencies and monitoring at-risk students.
• Provide training to new staff and ongoing support on welfare and safeguarding to enable appropriate referrals.
• Signpost students to financial, accommodation and benefits advice, working with student finance and external agencies.
• Establish and run self-help groups (stress and anger management) and develop peer welfare mentors.
• Develop relationships with Directors, course teams and Progress & Performance Tutors to improve welfare services and materials.
• Liaise with external agencies such as Health Authority, Social Services and Housing Associations to access external support.
