Job summary

Bradford College is seeking a Safeguarding & Wellbeing Officer to join the Student Support team. The role focuses on safeguarding, mental health and personal welfare, including early help and curriculum staff support.

This term-time position is 24 hours per week across 42 weeks per year and involves direct student contact, liaison with staff, referrals, and development of welfare resources. Flexible working and weekend/evening work may be required.

Qualifications

• Safeguarding or mental health qualification at Level 2 and above or demonstrable experience in safeguarding
• GCSE Maths (Grade 4-9) or equivalent level 2 qualification, to achieve within timescale
• GCSE English (Grade 4-9) or equivalent level 2 qualification, to achieve within timescale

Responsibilities

• Provide a first point of contact for staff and students with safeguarding and wellbeing concerns, including mental health
• Liaise with curriculum and support staff to ensure positive outcomes, retention, achievement and progression
• Signpost and refer students to internal and external supports, providing advocacy where appropriate
• Contribute to development and maintenance of resources to support personal and social welfare
• Work flexibly as part of the College, including occasional weekend/evening work
• Attend team meetings, staff development and marketing activities
• Engage with students in service evaluation and quality improvement
• Support young people and vulnerable adults at risk of harm
• Make referrals to statutory bodies and other services as needed
• Coordinate and monitor risk assessments and safety plans for at-risk students
• Implement best practice in safeguarding, Prevent and mental health
