Job summary

Barking & Dagenham College is seeking a Student Liaison Officer to join the Student Welfare & Support team. You will promote positive behaviour, act as a college ambassador, and support learners across day and evening shifts during term-time.

The role requires safeguarding knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to work with staff, students and external agencies to maintain a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• English and Maths Level 2 or above
• Willingness to take the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) qualification
• Understanding of safeguarding and student safety principles
• Ability to de-escalate and manage challenging behaviour

Responsibilities

• Work day and evening shifts as directed by the Student Liaison Manager
• Monitor student behaviour and intervene when appropriate
• Maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment across college spaces
• Liaise with college teams, external agencies and community groups
• Identify and address student concerns and escalate when needed
