Job summary

Selly Oak Trust School is seeking a Cover Supervisor to confidently supervise classes during short-term teacher absences and to implement pre-prepared work while supporting students in learning activities. The role emphasizes wellbeing, SEN support, and maintaining a calm, professional approach within a caring school community.

The position offers a permanent contract, 34 hours per week, 8:30am–3:30pm with a 4:00pm finish on Wednesdays and one other day.

Qualifications

• Ability to supervise whole classes during short-term absence of the class teacher.
• Ability to implement pre-prepared work programmes and manage student behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Manage, support and engage students in all areas of the school environment.
• Support the wellbeing and educational needs of young people with SEN.
• Convey information and knowledge to young people.
• Develop positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues.
• Show sensitivity in listening to young people's situations and the ability to communicate positively and effectively to reach solutions.
• Work successfully both individually and within a team and be able to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrate a caring and understanding nature and maintain a calm, assertive approach.
