We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.

The role
Are you passionate about supporting students to reach their full potential? Do you thrive in a role where every day brings new conversations, new challenges, and new opportunities to make a difference? If so, you could be a Student Success Coach at the University of Surrey.
We’re looking for individuals who are proactive, empathetic, and energised by helping students navigate university life — academically, personally, and professionally. You’ll be part of a supportive team committed to improving student belonging, engagement, and outcomes.
The Student Success Coach plays a central role in fostering student engagement, wellbeing, and academic progression across the student lifecycle. Working closely with academic colleagues and specialist support services, the post holder will provide proactive, personalised, and data-informed support to help students thrive, overcome challenges, and successfully progress through their programme. The role combines 1:1 coaching, group support, early-intervention outreach, and ongoing case management to strengthen student belonging, attainment, and retention.
We have positions open on both a permanent basis and fixed-term basis (until February 2028). All positions are full-time; part-time is not available. The role requires staff to be on site during semester time as the post holders will be delivering group coaching and 1:1 appointments as well as delivering the student success module as part of the taught curriculum. Hybrid working will be available through vacation periods.
Experience in coaching, mentoring, student support, or advisory roles is beneficial — but above all, we’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about student success.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
If you would like to discuss the position informally before applying, please contact Hollie Baker, Associate Director Student Success, via email at h.baker@surrey.ac.uk.
Interviews are expected to be held on 9th & 10th November.
