Cardiff Metropolitan University is hiring for a data migration specialist to lead the transfer of student records from the legacy QLS system to the new cloud-based Student Record System. You will define data profiling, mapping, extraction, transformation, cleansing, loading and validation processes to safeguard data integrity before go-live.

You will work with SMEs across student records, registry, admissions and academic schools, as well as Digital Services and system suppliers, turning legacy

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management or related discipline is essential.
• Experience of data migration in higher education and familiarity with student record data and regulatory reporting such as HESA.
• Experience with ERP or similar enterprise systems and relevant data certifications would be an advantage.
• Ability to document work thoroughly and communicate with SMEs, operational teams and suppliers.

Responsabilités

• Analyse current data in the legacy system (QLS) and identify data quality issues, gaps and risks.
• Map data between legacy and new systems and produce data dictionaries, mapping specs and cutover runbooks.
• Build, test and iterate migration scripts to cleanse and standardise data before migrations.
• Run migration rehearsals, log issues with owners and resolution timescales.
• Validate and reconcile data at each stage and assist source data cleansing with operational teams.
