Job summary

Victoria College of Arts and Design in Manchester is seeking a Student Information and Support Officer to deliver high-quality guidance to our students throughout their academic journey. You will be the first point of contact for inquiries and provide tailored support across academic, personal and career areas.

You will work from our Manchester campus, starting 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday, with occasional evenings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in student services or similar role in higher or further education.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of challenges faced by students in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised support to students in areas such as academic progress, personal matters and career development.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student inquiries via email, phone and in-person.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies when responding to student needs.
  • Managing student attendance and absences as per university policies.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative staff to address student concerns.

Position Overview:

VCAD is seeking a Student Information and Support Officer to join our Manchester campus: located at Arthur House, Chorlton St, Manchester, M1 3FH. The successful candidate will be part of the team providing high-quality support to our students throughout their academic journey. The role requires an individual with excellent communication and organisational skills, who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The role holder will help students navigate academic, personal and career-related challenges, ensuring their university experience is fulfilling and successful. The role holder will be instrumental in fostering a positive, supportive environment that enables our students to excel.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalised support to students in areas such as academic progress, personal matters and career development.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student inquiries via email, phone and in-person.
  • Ensure compliance with the university policies and procedures when responding to student needs.
  • Managing student attendance and absences as per the university policies
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative staff to identify and address student concerns and provide feedback on academic progress.
  • Maintain and update student records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Provide regular and accurate reports to VCAD and our partner universities.
  • Organise and facilitate events and workshops to promote student engagement and enhance the student experience.
  • Monitor student attendance, academic progress and behavior, intervening, when necessary, to ensure student success.
  • Support administrative processes including enrollment, withdrawals, and reporting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of student information and support services.
  • Provide support for any other associated duties as requested by the Team leader or Head of Student Experience.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in student services or similar role in higher or further education, with a strong understanding of the academic and personal challenges students face.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students in higher education, with the ability to offer tailored support.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as and when needed.
