About us

The Assignment Success Tutors will play a key role in supporting, mentoring, guiding and advising students, across all of their modules, to help ensure that they engage with and understand their studies, manage and develop their assignment work, and are able to submit assignments before the submission deadline that meet the modules’ specific Learning Outcomes and are of a pass-grade standard.

The Assignment Success Tutors will work across a range of programmes, but pre-dominantly degree programmes focused on ‘Business Management’ and ‘Digital Marketing’.

The post holder will work closely with the teaching academics across VCAD’s two London campuses, London Bridge and Canary Wharf, to provide tutoring, support and guidance to students, both inside and outside the classroom.

The Assignment Success Tutors will be required to have a good understanding of the fundamental subjects covered within Business Management and Digital Marketing degree programmes, as well as a thorough familiarity with the academic expectations of undergraduate assignment work.

In particular, the Assignment Success Tutors will provide targeted and subject specific support to individual students who are struggling to, fulfil their assignment’s brief, are at risk of non-submission, or have a re-submission opportunity.

The role of the Assignment Success Tutor is focused on helping to improve our students’ assignment submission rates. In particular, the role is designed to help increase the number of our students who achieve a pass grade at the first submission opportunity, who succeed when offered a re-submission opportunity, and to, consequently, deliver an overall improvement in the number of VCAD students who are academically able to continue to their next Semester or Level and, ultimately, gain their Degree Award.

Key Responsibilities
Student Engagement and Support
  • Maintain regular contact with an allocated group of students, providing consistent and structured subject specific academic support
  • Actively engage with students who are at risk of non-submission
  • Build collegiate and constructive relationships with VCAD’s teaching academics

  • Provide clear guidance on how to approach assignments in line with subject knowledge and academic standards
  • Assist students in interpreting feedback and feed forward and understanding how to apply it to their future work
  • Support students in applying academic writing skills, research techniques and referencing.
Draft Review and Formative Feedback
  • Review students’ draft work and, where appropriate, provide constructive feedback to the student to guide them in improving their work prior to the submission deadline.
  • Offer tutorial support and feedback through both one to one and group sessions. These sessions will take place in-person, via Moodle based resources, utilising email, Teams and other forms of appropriate meeting mediums.
  • Encourage students to take responsibility for creating and submitting their own work.
  • Specifically advise and guide students on the appropriate and inappropriate use of Artificial Intelligence when building their assignment submission.
  • Ensure all support falls within institutional academic integrity regulations and guidelines
Monitoring and Follow-up
  • Track student engagement, progress, and readiness for submission

  • Working with the academic teaching team, the post holder will identify early signs of academic risk and take appropriate action
  • Collaborate with academic colleagues to maintain records of student interactions and interventions
Targeted Interventions
  • Work with teaching colleagues and students to break down assignments into manageable stages and support re-engagement following periods of absence or low participation.
  • Work closely with Directors, Deputy Deans, Programme Leaders and Module Leaders to support student progress. Liaise with VCAD Registry and other student services and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of VCAD’s academic delivery.
Teaching Support and Cover Responsibilities
  • Provide teaching cover as may reasonably be required to support continuity of academic delivery. This may include undertaking lecturing responsibilities during periods of staff absence, annual leave, or sickness, as well as providing support in emergency situations.
