Job summary

Stony Dean School in Amersham is seeking a Family/Student Support Worker & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to work with families, pupils and staff to boost attendance and emotional wellbeing. You will support learning, behaviour and participation, while assisting the DSL in safeguarding duties.

The role requires a proactive, empathetic approach and strong English communication. This is a permanent, full-time position with opportunities for training and development within the Local Government

Qualifications

• Experience of working with complex family cases.
• Experience of working in the safeguarding sector.
• Recent experience of working in a school or social care setting.
• Absolute commitment to removing obstacles to pupil safety, happiness and success.
• Understanding of issues affecting a student’s sense of safety.
• Strong written and spoken English for reports and records.
• Experience of working with children with special needs (desirable).
• Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Promote good attendance inside and outside school with innovative solutions for EBSNA students and those with medical needs.
• Ensure wellbeing and safety of the student informs decisions.
• Build relationships with families of low attendance to improve attendance and address needs.
• Ensure long-term absence receives quality education tailored to their journey.
• Help families access appropriate support services.
• Make home visits with families of low attending students.
• Meet parents at home, virtually or in school to ensure pupil support.
• Keep safeguarding and visit records using the CPOMS system.
• Maintain confidentiality.
