Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council’s Stony Dean School is seeking a dedicated Family/Student Support Worker and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to help improve attendance and emotional wellbeing. You will work with families, pupils and staff to remove barriers to personalised success and safeguard pupils through close collaboration with the safeguarding team.

The role combines family support with safeguarding responsibilities, including home visits, signposting to services, and ensuring quality

Qualifications

• Experience of working with complex family cases.
• Experience of working in the safeguarding sector.
• Recent experience in a school or social care setting.
• Absolute commitment to removing obstacles to safe, happy and successful students.
• Understanding of issues affecting a student’s sense of safety.
• Strong written and spoken English for reports and records.

Responsibilities

• Promote good attendance for L& EBSNA students and those with medical needs.
• Prioritise wellbeing and safety in every decision.
• Build relationships with families to improve attendance and address needs.
• Ensure long-term absence students receive personalised education.
• Help families access appropriate support services and signpost to resources.
• Make home visits with families of low-attending students.
• Meet parents in home, virtually or at school to ensure pupil support.
• Keep accurate safeguarding and visit records using CPOMS.
• Maintain confidentiality.
