Here at South Thames Colleges Group, we are now seeking a Student Community Officer for Kingston College.
The Student Community Officer will play a key role in fostering a positive ethos within the College community. You will provide a welcoming, engaging on-site presence for students in communal areas, signposting to enrichment and personal development opportunities to promote positive attitudes, inclusivity, and behavior. You will deliver both 1-1 and group work related to student attendance, behavior, safety, and relationship building. You will actively identify and monitor students 'at risk' around campus for early intervention. You will work closely with internal colleagues and external partners as a key safeguarding link to contribute to campus safety.
You will create and maintain up-to-date records and health & safety risk assessments in line with College policies.
To succeed, candidates must have experience working with young people and an understanding of issues affecting attendance. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and interventions, excellent listening skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining boundaries are essential. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies is also required, along with emotional resilience when working with challenging behaviors.
Please note this post is funded for the 2024/25 academic year onwards; the successful candidate would not be expected to start before August 2024.
Subject to a cost of living review from 1 August, the salary may increase accordingly.
