Job summary

Sidney Stringer Academy in Coventry seeks an Assistant Education Welfare Officer to join the Attendance Team and support the academy’s attendance strategy. You will undertake duties such as home visits, absence follow up, mentoring, and recording attendance data to support improved pupil attendance for ages 11 to 16.

You will work under the Attendance Lead and Education Welfare Officer to assist students, families and staff in addressing barriers to attendance and ensuring that concerns are

Qualifications

• Strong communication with parents, carers, students, staff and external agencies.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
• Good organisational skills and accurate record keeping.
• Good IT skills including spreadsheets and school systems.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to build working relationships with colleagues.
• Experience of working in a school or education setting.
• Knowledge of attendance processes, safeguarding or pastoral systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the academy’s attendance strategy as part of the Attendance Team.
• Undertake home visits and absence follow up.
• Provide mentoring and additional support to students.
• Perform administrative tasks and maintain attendance records.
• Escalate attendance concerns appropriately.
• Support pupils in Years 7 to 11 and engage with families and external agencies.
