Job summary

Sidney Stringer Academy Trust invites applications for an Assistant Education Welfare Officer to strengthen the Attendance Team and support the academy’s attendance strategy. The role involves home visits, follow-up on absences, mentoring, and meticulous record-keeping for Years 7–11.

You will work under the Attendance Lead and Education Welfare Officer, helping students, families and staff address barriers to attendance and escalate concerns as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills for liaising with parents, carers and staff.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
• Good organisational skills with accurate records management.
• IT skills including spreadsheets, email and school systems.
• Team player with experience in a school or education setting.
• Knowledge of attendance processes, safeguarding or pastoral systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the attendance strategy as part of the Attendance Team.
• Carry out home visits, absence follow up and mentoring tasks.
• Perform administrative duties and maintain records to improve attendance.
• Work under the Attendance Lead and Education Welfare Officer to escalate concerns.
• Liaise with students, families and staff to remove barriers to attendance.
