Job summary

Derby Union of Students is seeking a Union Advisor to provide free, independent and confidential advice to students on matters ranging from academic appeals to housing and financial concerns.

You will carry out dedicated casework, support student rights, train staff, and help promote the Advice Service across university sites, while prioritising empathy, professionalism and safeguarding.

The role is full time (35 hours per week) at Kedleston Road, Derby, with a starting salary of £27,000.

Responsibilities

• Carry out solution-focused casework in a professional and impartial manner via face-to-face, telephone, email and Teams.
• Provide specialist advice and guidance on academic, welfare, debt, housing and related policies.
• Liaise with university staff, draft letters, and coordinate with external organisations on behalf of students.
• Lead on awareness campaigns and training, supporting the Union Advice service and welfare provision.
