Job summary

McLaren Accelerator is seeking a Structures Engineer to join on a fixed-term contract. You will apply structural analysis, simulation and engineering expertise to solve complex challenges for our partners.

You will collaborate with engineers, consultants, project managers and subject matter experts to translate McLaren Racing's engineering excellence into practical, high-value solutions across industries. We value frontline structural analysis, CAD/FEA, and innovative approaches.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, Structural Eng or related STEM.
Strong understanding of structural mechanics, materials, fatigue, buckling and failure.
Experience applying FEA to composite structures in a high-performance environment.
Experience analyzing laminate behaviour and failure modes.
Experience using FEA tools: HyperWorks/OptiStruct, Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran.
Strong FEM modelling, meshing, loads and boundary conditions.
Weight, stiffness and performance optimization experience.
CAD geometry creation/modification for analysis.
Ability to manage analysis work packages end-to-end.
Experience in motorsport or similar high-performance engineering.
Composite laminate design/validation experience.
Non-linear, modal, impact or other advanced simulations.
Python, MATLAB or automation tool experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver structural analysis activities in support of McLaren Accelerator projects.
Perform structural R&D and develop robust analysis methodologies.
Create analysis-ready CAD geometry and finite element models.
Plan, execute and interpret finite element analyses with clear recommendations.
Champion best practices in structural analysis tools and workflows.
Apply materials knowledge to support engineering decisions.
Collaborate with Engineering, Technical Consulting and High-Performance Programmes teams.
Support project scoping, proposals and technical bid activities.
Work with project managers, suppliers and partners to ensure delivery.
Contribute to knowledge sharing and capability development.
