Job summary

McLaren Racing in Woking seeks a skilled Structural Analyst to maximise the structural performance of the F1 car. You will develop and validate FEA models using Hyperworks/Abaqus, ensuring safety and durability requirements are met.

You will work with Design, Materials, and Labs within a fast-paced, collaborative team, report findings clearly, and contribute to proposals and sign-off testing. A strong degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering and scripting skills are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent.
• Solid knowledge of structural and stress analysis methods (including hand calculations such as basic sizing and fatigue).
• Familiarity with FEA tools (Hyperworks, Abaqus, Optistruct) and scripting skills.

Job Description

Perform Structural Analysis in order to maximise the structural performance of the F1 car. The role will use the latest structural simulation tools, engineering skill and creativity and ensure that stringent safety & durability requirements are satisfied.

Role Dimensions

The role is a full time position and is primarily based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking. Forming part of the Structural Design Team, you’ll also be working closely with Design, Materials, Vehicle performance and Labs.

Qualifications

• Strong Degree in Mechanical/ Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent
• Good knowledge of structural/ stress analysis methodologies, including classical hand calculations (Basic Sizing, Fatigue etc.)
• Some familiarity with mainstream FEA packages and solvers desirable (Hyperworks, Abaqus, Optistruct) as well as coding/ scripting skills
