Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Structures Engineer to help manage our structures asset and support risk management and project delivery under DMRB standards. The role involves survey planning, budget oversight, and coordinating with technical partners to deliver improvements.

The position is based in either Bristol or Exeter on a hybrid basis, with responsibility for developing schemes and ensuring customer-centric design and robust technical specifications.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in relevant discipline and working towards a professional membership.
• Experience in structures studies, renewals design, or structural assessment.
• Experience managing budgets for scheme development.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, prepare survey briefs, and support delivery of structures survey works.
• Monitor delivery of agreed assessment work with technical partners and delivery teams.
• Develop early solutions for improvements, including option reports and cost considerations.
• Undertake structural reviews per CS 451 and assessment per DMRB standards.
• Assist with regional asset-led forward programmes and technical specifications.
