Overview:

A well-established and growing engineering practice is seeking a highly experienced Structural Design Engineer to take a lead role in project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled individual with strong project management abilities to join a forward-thinking design team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design of structural steelwork projects from concept to completion.
• Apply relevant design codes and utilise industry-standard software including Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Portal Designer, and MasterSeries.
• Undertake steel member and connection design with confidence and precision.
• Coordinate technical details with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Manage workload to meet deadlines and stay within project budgets.
• Participate in design meetings and present technical solutions effectively.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with quality assurance procedures.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Mentor and support the development of graduate and junior engineers.
• Foster strong working relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and positive feedback.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements within the design function and the wider business.

Candidate Requirements:

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in structural steel design.
• Strong knowledge of relevant design standards and codes.
• Proficient in Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Portal Designer, and MasterSeries.
• Degree-qualified in structural or civil engineering, ideally progressing toward incorporated or chartered status.
• Experience in temporary works design is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and resolve queries efficiently.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to high-quality work and continuous professional development.
