Randstad Delivery is recruiting a Civil/Structural Engineer (Projects) for Tata Steel at Port Talbot. The role oversees end-to-end CAPEX projects (>£100m) with safety leadership and cross-disciplinary coordination. Based at Port Talbot, Swansea area, it requires full UK work rights and 36.5-hour weeks.

The position offers a clear path through project controls and reporting to senior stakeholders, with potential for progression and a start ASAP following medical clearance.

Tata Steel could be looking for you! Project Invictus is transforming the future of UK Steel. The successful applicant will be a precision focused, highly experienced Civil/Structural Engineer with tenure managing capex projects.

On this occasion, only applicants with full right to work in the UK already in place can be considered

Role: Civil/Structural Engineer (Projects)

Location: Tata Steel, Port Talbot Works, Swansea, SA13 2NG

Salary: £60,000 per annum

Contract length: initially until Dec 2027 but with the potential to be until Mar 2028

Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 36.5 hours per week. Typical hours are Mon-Thu 08:30-16:45 and Fri 08:30-15:45, however flexibility is required but also given

Start: ASAP pending the successful completion of a medical assessment which includes a drug and Alcohol test

Responsibilities:

• Providing safety leadership across civil & structural works in compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and H&S legislation
• Leading end-to-end delivery of major civil & structural CAPEX projects (>£100m) from mobilisation to handover
• Coordinating civil and structural design activities across partners, consultants, and contractors
• Managing principal contractors, construction management partners, and specialist subcontractors
• Establishing and maintaining robust quality assurance and quality control processes
• Leading daily project controls
• Maintaining six-week look-ahead plans
• Tracking programme milestones
• Managing interfaces between Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Operational workstreams
• Managing project budgets, change control, variations, and compensation events (NEC environment)
• Maintaining risk registers, opportunity plans
• Presenting daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports to senior stakeholders
• Leading, coaching, and managing a team of project engineers

Essential requirements:

• Degree education in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• 10+ years' experience in senior project management roles delivering major civil and/or structural construction projects
• Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (due to nature of the site)
• Proven track record delivering major UK civil and structural construction projects (>£100m CAPEX preferred)
• Significant experience managing EPC, EPCM, construction management, and principal contractor delivery models in live brownfield/industrial environments
• Strong understanding of UK construction legislation (CDM 2015, Health & Safety at Work Act)
• Strong commercial awareness and experience with contract management principles (NEC contract environment preferred)

Desirable requirements:

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Project Manager status
