Job summary

Sanderson is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the structural delivery of high-profile projects across industrial manufacturing, technology, education, government and defence sectors.

You will provide structural leadership, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build strong client relationships while delivering innovative engineering solutions. Applicants should be Chartered or eligible and ready to travel to client sites as required.

Qualifications

We are working with a leading global engineering consultancy that is looking to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer to join its growing multidisciplinary design team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the structural delivery of high-profile projects across industrial manufacturing, technology, education, government and defence sectors.

Working on technically challenging projects, you'll provide structural leadership, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build strong client relationships while delivering innovative engineering solutions.

Candidates can be based anywhere across the UK but must be sole UK nationals due to the industry it will be working in. You must be willing to attend their local company office or project site two days per week, with the remainder of the week working from home.

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience leading structural engineering projects from concept through to completion
• Strong technical background in structural analysis and design
• Chartered Engineer status (IStructE or ICE preferred)
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating complex engineering projects
• Excellent client, stakeholder and commercial management skills
• Strong knowledge of structural materials, design standards and engineering best practice
• Experience reviewing technical designs and mentoring engineers
• Eligibility to obtain SC Security Clearance

Key responsibilities:

• Lead structural engineering design and project coordination across multiple complex projects
• Manage technical delivery, project resources and commercial performance
• Coordinate engineers, BIM specialists and multidisciplinary project teams
• Build strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
• Review and validate engineering designs to ensure technical excellence
• Mentor and develop engineers within the wider team
• Champion health & safety, quality and sustainable engineering throughout project delivery
