Job summary

Akkodis seeks a Principal Structural Engineer for a long-term contract on site in Stevenage. The role focuses on advanced structural analysis across military systems, including hand calculations and FE methods, with Altair experience preferred.

You will work within the Mechanical Analysis Group, contributing to metallic/composite analyses, optimsation, and multi-body dynamics while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a STEM subject.
• Proven ability to carry out structural analysis through hand calculations and FE methods.
• Altair FE toolset preferred; experience in NASTRAN/ANSYS considered.

Responsibilities

• Perform static, dynamic and fatigue analysis.
• Carry out metallic and composite structural analysis.
• Conduct FE optimisation and Design of Experiments.
• Assess mechanisms and multi-body dynamics and crash scenarios.
• Provide quick, robust assessments to progress design activities.
• Work in multi-disciplinary teams or independently.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication to influence stakeholders.

Job description

Structural Engineer required for long term contract assignment on site in Stevenage.

Overview of department:

The Mechanical Analysis Group are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join its team in Stevenage. The group consists of over fifty engineers working across a wide spectrum of cutting-edge military systems.

Skillset/experience required:

Degree qualified in a STEM subject.

Proven ability to carry out structural analysis through the application of hand calculations and Finite Element (FE) methods. Proven experience in the Altair FE toolset is preferred, although experience in alternative FE codes such as NASTRAN, ANSYS etc. will be considered.

• Static, dynamic, fatigue analysis

Ability to make quick/simple assessments to progress design activities in an efficient manner.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to network and influence internal and external customers.

Relevant experience in an equivalent or comparable industry would be advantageous.
