Line Up Aviation in Stevenage is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer on a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. The role requires on-site commitment (minimum 4 days per week) and an hourly rate of £50.

You will lead structural analysis activities for cutting-edge military systems, applying hand calculations and FE tools. The position demands SC clearance and strong collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a STEM subject.

• Experience in static, dynamic, fatigue analysis; metallic/composite analysis; FE optimisation; multi-body dynamics; crash analysis.
• Ability to progress design activities with quick, simple assessments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team or independently.

Salary: GBP50 - GBP50 per hour

Our client has an opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join them on a 12-month contract with possible extension.

Role: Principal Structural Engineer

Location: Minimum 4 days onsite per week. Compressed week possible.

Hourly Rate: £50 per hour via Umbrella, inside IR35

Clearance: full SC required before starting

What you’ll be doing:

The Mechanical Analysis Group are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join its team in Stevenage. The group consists of over fifty engineers working across a wide spectrum of cutting-edge military systems.

Working for an internationally recognised company, you will play a critical role in ensuring that products deliver the necessary performance against key structural requirements.

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in a STEM subject.
• Proven ability to carry out structural analysis through the application of hand calculations and Finite Element (FE) methods. Proven experience in the Altair FE toolset is preferred, although experience in alternative FE codes such as NASTRAN, ANSYS etc. will be considered.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Static, dynamic, fatigue analysis;
  • Metallic/composite analysis;
  • Finite Element optimisation & Design of Experiments;
  • Assessment of mechanisms and multi body dynamics;
  • Crash analysis.
• Ability to make quick/simple assessments to progress design activities in an efficient manner.
• Self-motivated individuals, who are great problem solvers and are able to take responsibility for complex structural analysis tasks.
• Can work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to network and influence internal and external customers.
• Relevant experience in an equivalent or comparable industry would be advantageous.
