Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer for the Mechanical Analysis Group in Stevenage. You will lead structural analysis activities to ensure performance against key structural requirements for cutting-edge military systems.

The role requires a STEM degree and FE analysis capability (Altair preferred; NASTRAN/ANSYS also considered). You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering timely, reliable analyses and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a STEM subject.
• Experience in structural analysis using hand calculations and FE methods.
• FE tools experience preferred: Altair; others like NASTRAN/ANSYS considered.

12 Month Contract

£50 per hour umbrella (Inside IR35)

4 days per week on site - 1 day remote (compressed 4 day week possible)

Job Role:

The Mechanical Analysis Group are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join its team in Stevenage. The group consists of over fifty engineers working across a wide spectrum of cutting-edge military systems.

Working for an internationally recognised company, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our products deliver the necessary performance against key structural requirements.

Key Requirements:

• Degree qualified in a STEM subject.
• Proven ability to carry out structural analysis through the application of hand calculations and Finite Element (FE) methods. Proven experience in the Altair FE toolset is preferred, although experience in alternative FE codes such as NASTRAN, ANSYS etc. will be considered.

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Static, dynamic, fatigue analysis;
• Metallic/composite analysis;
• Finite Element optimisation & Design of Experiments;
• Assessment of mechanisms and multi body dynamics;
• Crash analysis.

• Ability to make quick/simple assessments to progress design activities in an efficient manner.
• Self-motivated individuals, who are great problem solvers and are able to take responsibility for complex structural analysis tasks.
• Can work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to network and influence internal and external customers.
• Relevant experience in an equivalent or comparable industry would be advantageous.
