Job summary

Airey Miller, part of the Celnor Group, is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its engineering team. Work spans inspections, defect investigations, design and appraisal on new build and existing buildings, with opportunities to progress toward chartered status.

You will collaborate with clients, architects and contractors, prepare calculations and reports, and develop technical skills across a multidisciplinary practice in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required.
• Experience in structural consultancy and understanding of design codes.
• Experience carrying out building inspections and defect investigations.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and CAD software (AutoCAD/Revit).

Responsibilities

• Carry out structural inspections and condition surveys on existing buildings.
• Perform defect investigations and prepare technical reports.
• Provide structural design and analysis for new-build, refurbishment and change‑of‑use projects.
• Prepare calculations, drawings and specifications for projects.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors and other engineers.
• Support project delivery and maintain technical standards.

Airey Miller is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our engineering team. Working under the guidance of the Team Lead and alongside experienced colleagues, you will contribute to a varied portfolio of projects, from structural inspections and defect investigations to design and appraisal work on new build and existing buildings. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to develop your technical skills, gain broad project exposure within a multidisciplinary practice and progress towards chartered status (or continue to build on it).

What you will do

• Airey Miller is looking for a Structural Engineer to join its growing engineering team, working alongside experienced colleagues on a varied portfolio of projects.
• You will carry out structural inspections, condition surveys and defect investigations across existing buildings and structures.
• The role will involve structural design and analysis for new-build, refurbishment, extension and change-of-use projects.
• You will prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• You will work closely with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
• You will support senior engineers in managing projects, meeting deadlines and maintaining technical standards.
• This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise, gain experience across a range of sectors and progress towards chartered status.

Who you are

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng, MEng or MSc).
• Experience working within a structural engineering consultancy, with a sound understanding of structural principles and design codes.
• Experience carrying out building inspections, condition surveys, defect investigations and preparing technical reports.
• Competence in structural analysis, design software and CAD packages such as AutoCAD or Revit.
• You will be working towards chartership with IStructE or ICE, or already hold chartered status.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach, a willingness to travel to site and a full UK driving licence.
