Job description

Our client is seeking a talented Intermediate Structural Engineer to join a growing structural engineering team in Bath. The Structural Engineer will receive support to become chartered, with a salary of up to £43,000 plus bonuses. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-end residential projects, ranging from new build developments to refurbishment and affordable housing schemes. The work is divided approximately 80% residential and 20% commercial.

Intermediate Engineer Job Overview

1. Prepare structural and drainage designs with supporting calculations for new build and renovation projects.
2. Carry out structural inspections, report on defects, and recommend remedial works.
3. Conduct site visits and attend design team meetings to monitor progress and address technical queries.
4. Develop UK residential drainage designs in accordance with current standards and regulations.
5. Liaise with architects, contractors, and clients to deliver design solutions that meet project requirements.
6. Ensure compliance with building regulations and relevant standards across all design work.
7. Assist in the preparation of design reports, planning documents, and project specifications.
8. Provide technical support and mentorship to junior team members.

Intermediate Engineer Job Requirements

1. A relevant degree (BSc or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
2. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, preferably in the residential sector.
3. A proven track record of producing structural designs and supporting calculations.
4. Experience with Tekla Tedds and AutoCAD.
5. A desire to work towards ICE or IStructE chartered status.
6. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage projects and deliver client satisfaction.
7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
8. Experience with UK drainage design and familiarity with relevant software would be beneficial.
