Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Streetworks Compliance Inspector to help manage the council’s highway network. The role involves inspecting street works and events, enforcing compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act, and applying penalties when required.

A driving licence and vehicle access are essential, with mileage paid at the standard Government rate. Candidates should have NVQ4 or equivalent, highways maintenance experience, and knowledge of highway legislation.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act and related regulations.
• Experience writing and interpreting technical and non-technical reports.
• Ability to interpret highway design standards and construction methods.
• Ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences and manage challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect highway works to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and codes of practice.
• Enforce controls and apply penalties when necessary to manage street works and events.
• Coordinate inspections and report findings for the Highway Network governance.
• Work outside normal hours and at locations away from base as required.
