Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Streetworks Compliance Inspector to inspect works on the highway network and ensure adherence to statutory regulations. The role requires knowledge of NRSWA, highways legislation, and the ability to issue enforcement actions when needed.

The post may involve after-hours work at various locations. A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential; travel and business miles are reimbursed at standard rates.

Qualifications

• NVQ4 or equivalent or BTEC Higher in Civil Engineering with NRSWA 1991 Supervisor accreditation.
• Experience in highways maintenance or civil engineering, and ability to work with utility providers.
• Experience using IT in a design office/ business environment and in writing reports.
• Knowledge of highway inspection procedures, traffic management legislation, and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect activities carried out on Leicestershire’s Highway Network to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Take actions and apply penalties to enforce street works controls.
• Work under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and Highway Act requirements.
• May include work outside normal hours and at locations other than base; driving licence and vehicle access required.
