Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a Streetscene Operative 2 based at Barnkirk Depot, Newton Stewart to cover streetscene functions across our communities. The post is for 36 hours per week and involves varied outdoor work in all weather.

You will need a full current driving licence, and some experience in street cleansing or grounds maintenance; PVG scheme checks apply. Education to Standard Grade is desirable and there is a strong health and safety emphasis.

Qualifications

• Must be a team player and able to work on own initiative.
• Full and current driving licence is essential.
• Experience in street cleansing and/or grounds maintenance.
• PVG scheme check required before offer.
• Applicants resident outside the UK in last 5 years must provide police record check.

Responsibilities

• Litter picking of footpaths, roadside verges, green spaces and other areas.
• Street sweeping.
• Graffiti removal.
• Driving of vehicles and operation of cleansing equipment.
• Cleaning of bins and other street/grounds furniture.
• General maintenance in public areas including streets, parks, cemeteries and landscaped areas.
• Other tasks relating to Community Asset/Streetscene functions.
