Job summary

VolkerHighways, part of VolkerWessels UK, seeks a Street Lighting Operative for our Kingston and Sutton projects. You will support electrical installations, maintenance and repairs, and assist with new builds, reporting to the Site Supervisor.

The role suits outdoor work year-round, with comfort at height and a reasonable commute to the SW19 depot. Relevant street lighting experience and qualifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work in road/highway environments.
• Experience in highways maintenance.
• Competence with street lighting installations.
• Able to work from height and commute to SW19 depot.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the installation of signs / columns, bollards and equipment.
• 24 hour Emergency Response / Out of Hours Standby.
• Assisting with installation of new build works.
• Carry out works as instructed by Site Supervisor in a safe manner.
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing.
• Fault diagnosis and repair.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with defect sheets completed correctly.

We have the capability to deliver major surfacing and public realm infrastructure projects. Our specialist in-house traffic management division provides expert advice and support across the industry, whilst assisting with our own, in-house contracts.

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Street Lighting Operative to work on our Street Lighting project in Kingston and Sutton. You will be responsible for providing support for electrical installations, repairs, planned maintenance and new installations.

Key responsibilities:

• Assisting with the installation of signs / columns, bollards and associated equipment
• 24 hour Emergency Response / Out of Hours Standby
• Assisting with the installation of any new build works
• Carry out works as instructed by the Site Supervisor in a safe manner, within the scope if relevant duties
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing
• Fault diagnosis and repair
• Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with vehicle defect sheet completed correctly

About you

• Enjoys working in an outdoor environment all year-round
• Comfortable working from height
• Reasonable commute to SW19 depot
• Highways maintenance experience
• Preferable registration to Highways Electrical Level 3 NVQ
• SWQR Qualification
• Safe Isolation / G39
• Street Lighting Installations experience
