Job summary

VolkerWessels UK, via VolkerHighways, is seeking a Highways Street Lighting Operative to support electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance on our street lighting project in Kingston and Sutton. You will work outside in all weather, carry out inspections and testing, and assist with new build works under the Site Supervisor’s direction.

The role requires comfort working at height, a reasonable commute to SW19 depot, and a proactive approach to safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways maintenance is preferred.
• Registration to Highways Electrical Level 3 NVQ is desirable.
• SWQR qualification is desirable.
• Safe Isolation / G39 knowledge is desirable.
• Experience with street lighting installations is desirable.
• MEWP operation experience is desirable.
• ECS H&S test and First Aid certification are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of signs, columns, bollards and related equipment.
• Provide 24-hour emergency response and out-of-hours standby.
• Assist with new build works and maintenance tasks as directed by Site Supervisor.
• Carry out works safely and within scope of duties.
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing.
• Fault diagnosis and repair.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained and defect sheets completed.

About The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Street Lighting Operative to work on our Street Lighting project in Kingston and Sutton. You will be responsible for providing support for electrical installations, repairs, planned maintenance and new installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the installation of signs / columns, bollards and associated equipment
• 24 hour Emergency Response / Out of Hours Standby
• Assisting with the installation of any new build works
• Carry out works as instructed by the Site Supervisor in a safe manner, within the scope if relevant duties
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing
• Fault diagnosis and repair
• Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with vehicle defect sheet completed correctly
