Job summary

Durham County Council seeks an experienced Street Lighting Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and construction across County Durham. You will drive safe, efficient delivery, manage teams, and oversee budgets and contractor performance.

Hybrid working arrangements are available, with opportunities to mentor apprentices and shape service improvements in highways and street lighting.

Qualifications

• Significant street lighting maintenance and construction experience.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Sound knowledge of electrical inspection and testing requirements and legislation.
• Experience managing budgets, resources and project delivery.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to health and safety culture and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop operational street lighting teams.
• Plan, programme and deliver maintenance and construction works.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Manage projects from conception to completion, including budgets.
• Prepare permits, RAMS and traffic management requirements.
• Monitor contractor performance and provide technical guidance.
• Support recruitment, workforce development and apprentice mentoring.
• Participate in the out-of-hours management rota.
