Job summary

Darlington Borough Council is seeking a Street Care Driver/Operative to join the Street Cleansing Team. The role involves driving a fully equipped mobile workshop and performing street care and environmental maintenance duties across Darlington and surrounding areas.

You will undertake graffiti removal, pavement washing, minor repairs to bollards and pavements, and assist with street furniture installation. A full C1 driving licence is essential for this varied outdoor position.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weathers.
• Willingness to undertake a range of street care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a fully equipped mobile workshop and carry out street cleansing duties.
• Remove graffiti and chewing gum, wash pavements, and carry out pressure washing.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of street furniture and play equipment.
• Resolve litter and fly-tipping issues and empty litter and dog waste bins.

Job description

Darlington Borough Council is seeking to recruit a Street Care Driver/Operative to join its Street Cleansing Team. This is an excellent opportunity to help maintain clean, safe, and attractive streets and public spaces across Darlington and the surrounding district. The role involves driving and operating a fully equipped mobile workshop and undertaking a variety of street care and environmental maintenance duties. You will be responsible for the removal of graffiti and chewing gum, carrying out pavement washing and other pressure washing activities, and undertaking minor repairs to bollards, posts, pavements, street furniture, and other Council assets. You will also assist with the installation and maintenance of street furniture, play equipment and other structures. In addition, you will undertake general duties to improve the quality of the street environment, including litter collection, fly-tip removal, and the emptying of litter and dog waste bins. A commitment to maintaining high standards and delivering an excellent service to the community is essential as is a full (C1) driving license.
