Job Purpose
To be responsible for carrying out a range of street cleansing service activities ensuring that a high standard of street cleansing is achieved through the cleansing of a wide range of public spaces including, but not limited to, public highways, car parks, housing areas, footways and other council-owned spaces.
This role will be working as part of an integrated Area Team delivering Street Cleansing across a defined locality.
This role will also provide mechanical and manual street cleansing and sweeping duties through daily work scheduling in line with required standards and ensuring compliance with all aspects of health and safety.
Vehicles include, but are not limited to, vehicles under 3.5t GVW including small mechanical sweepers.
To work flexibly and as part of a team to provide excellent grounds maintenance services to the community. This will also involve collaborative working with Street Cleansing, Highways Maintenance, and Waste Collections teams to reflect the new integrated Clean & Green Structure.
To ensure that accurate records of work undertaken are maintained using digital systems and data-driven monitoring, e.g., Bartec, in-cab systems, or Power BI for performance management and reporting.

Category B driving licence
Ability to drive and operate a range of non-LGV vehicles including vehicles under 3,500kg GVW and mechanical sweepers
Knowledge of basic maintenance and care of plant, equipment and vehicles
Relevant certification/training in use of small mechanical sweepers
Awareness of environmental sustainability in cleansing operations
RQF Level 2 in Street Cleansing or similar
Knowledge of COPLAR 2019 standards
Trained in herbicide application PA1/PA6
First Aid Certificate

Experience of driving a wide range of non-LGV vehicles
Experience of use of equipment such as mechanical sweepers, pedestrian-operated sweepers etc. in public spaces
Experience of working to cleansing standards and schedules
Similar experience within a local authority or private contractor

Experience of mentoring or training others
