Job summary

Cadent is seeking a Strategy and Policy Analyst to shape the strategy and economics driving the transition to a low‑carbon energy future in the UK. You’ll provide robust economic, regulatory and market analysis to support future energy strategies and position Cadent as a thought leader.

This permanent, hybrid role requires engagement with government and regulators, modelling, scenario development, and clear communication of insights.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Economics, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and modelling capability.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver economic, commercial and regulatory analysis to inform Cadent’s long-term strategy.
  • Support hydrogen, biomethane, hybrid systems and Net Zero pathways.
  • Contribute to consultation responses and shape future regulatory frameworks.
  • Build economic models and scenarios to evaluate future energy options.
  • Develop high-quality insights and publications.
  • Engage with government, regulators and industry groups.
  • Collaborate with strategy, regulation, finance and external affairs teams.

Job description

Shape the strategy and economics driving the transition to a low‑carbon energy future

As our Strategy and Policy Analyst, you’ll play a key role in shaping how Cadent responds to the future energy landscape. This isn’t just about analysis — it’s about influencing strategy, informing decision‑making and helping position Cadent as a thought leader in the transition to Net Zero.

This is a permanent role, where you’ll provide robust economic, regulatory and market analysis to support the development of future energy strategies. You’ll work across the business and with external stakeholders to develop insights, scenarios and frameworks that support the evolution of gas networks, including hydrogen, biomethane and hybrid energy systems.

You’ll support high‑profile work influencing policy, regulatory frameworks and industry thinking, helping Cadent navigate complex challenges and opportunities in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Strong Analytical Capability – Experience developing and using economic or financial models to inform decisions.
  • Policy & Strategy Awareness – Understanding of regulatory frameworks and energy transition challenges.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to translate complex analysis into clear, impactful insight.
  • Stakeholder Confidence – Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including government or industry bodies.
  • Innovative Thinking – Ability to develop creative solutions and forward‑thinking strategies.
  • Delivery Focus – Able to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality outputs to tight timescales.

Interviews will be week commence shortly after the closing date and will be held at our head office at Ansty business park.
