Job summary

Gaeltec Utilities UK Ltd. is seeking a Procurement Officer to manage the day-to-day purchasing of materials, equipment, plant and services for overhead line and utility operations across Scotland.

You will liaise with Operations, Project Management, Stores and Finance to ensure timely delivery and value, while maintaining supplier performance and compliance. Qualifications include strong commercial awareness, negotiation and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day procurement of materials, equipment, plant, tools, PPE, consumables and services across the business.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from approved and potential new suppliers.
• Ensure purchases represent best value considering price, quality, availability, lead time, reliability and supplier performance.
• Raise and manage purchase orders per procedures and authority levels.
• Ensure purchases are coded to the correct project or cost centre.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders and ensure timely deliveries.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate purchasing and achieve cost savings.
• Support tendering and quotations for larger purchases and contracts.
• Obtain required approvals before commitments.
• Procure materials for overhead line and utility operations.
• Source equipment and specialist plant for site teams.
• Ensure materials meet specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with Operations/Engineering on technical specs.
• Monitor availability and lead times for critical materials.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and update approved supplier database.
• Monitor supplier performance and address issues.
• Assist with negotiations on pricing, terms, and delivery.
• Identify alternative suppliers to improve resilience.
