Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director to lead the Midlands Transport Planning team. You will shape strategy, engage with public sector clients, and oversee the delivery of multimillion‑pound transport projects. The role requires senior leadership, strong client relations, and a track record of winning work.

You will drive multidisciplinary collaboration across Streets, Highways, Rail and Environment while nurturing a diverse team and promoting best practices in sustainability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in transport planning, civil engineering, urban planning or a related field is required.
• Chartered status with CIHT or TPS is preferred and demonstrates professional standing.
• Extensive experience leading transport planning teams, securing work and delivering outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic initiatives to grow the transport planning practice and ensure cross-disciplinary integration.
• Build and maintain relationships with public sector clients, developers and operators.
• Oversee delivery of complex transport planning projects within budget and schedule.
• Lead bids and proposals, aligning with client needs and strategic priorities.
• Recruit, mentor and develop a high-performing transport planning team.
