Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Transport Planner to join its Transport Planning team. You will lead the delivery of transport strategies, scheme appraisals and business cases, while mentoring colleagues and engaging senior clients to shape strategic direction.

The role combines advanced analytics with project leadership, client engagement and business development, within a hybrid working model across the Birmingham region and national portfolio.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transport planning.
• Degree in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, Economics, or related subject.
• Chartered status or membership of CIHT, TPS, ICE or equivalent.
• Experience delivering multi-disciplinary projects and complying with DfT/Treasury guidance.
• Strong commercial awareness and proven project/resource management.
• Ability to work on Development Planning and Spatial Planning projects.
• Experience applying analytical techniques to assess network performance and test scenarios.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; able to present at senior level.
• Evidence of client relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Lead transport strategy development, scheme appraisal and business case work.
• Direct and mentor team members to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget.
• Engage with regional and national clients to shape strategy and technical direction.
• Support work-winning activities and bid leadership in the region.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to secure and deliver commissions.
