Job summary

AECOM seeks a Senior Transport Planner to lead transport planning activities across regional and national portfolios, including strategy development, business case preparation and evaluation. The role involves mentoring teammates, engaging with clients and bidding for new work, within a collaborative Birmingham office setting.

The ideal candidate will have Chartered status or equivalent, a degree in a related field, and a strong track record delivering complex, multi-disciplinary transport

Qualifications

• Degree in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, Economics, or related subject.
• Chartered status or membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIHT, TPS, ICE).
• Proven track record delivering transport planning projects and business cases within multi-disciplinary contexts.

Responsibilities

• Support Associate and Technical Directors on technical, managerial and financial matters.
• Direct the preparation of transport strategies, scheme appraisal and/or business case development.
• Supervise work to ensure technical standards, on programme and within budget.
• Act as a trusted adviser to regional and national clients, shaping strategy and technical direction.
• Represent the business at client meetings, consultations and workshops.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships across the West Midlands and beyond.
• Support work-winning activity in the region, identifying opportunities and leading bids.
• Collaborate with other teams to secure multi-disciplinary commissions.
• Mentor and support colleagues, contributing to staff development and succession planning.
