Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Technical Lead to coordinate and monitor multiple national programmes across regions. You will drive asset-led delivery, ensure governance, and oversee design and delivery with budgets and performance reporting.

You will work with engineering colleagues, project managers and planning teams to align schemes with technical standards, buildability and cost considerations, while seeking efficiencies and delivering value to road networks.

Qualifications

• Incorporated Engineer or near Chartered Engineer with civil engineering degree/HND or equivalent.
• Proven experience developing schemes with understanding of technical standards, asset policies and strategies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen including budget and project management.
• Knowledge of CDM and Health & Safety regulations in highway design & construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the National Programmes across regions, supporting strategy and direction.
• Ensure asset needs are identified, scoped, prioritised and governed to meet objectives.
• Collaborate with engineering colleagues, PMs, Planning & Development managers to align programmes with standards, buildability and costs.
• Oversee commissioning of studies, surveys, design and delivery, and manage related budgets and asset information databases.
• Identify opportunities for efficiencies by working with internal and external stakeholders.
