Job summary

The Boeing Company in Sheffield is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Planner to join our team and optimize material planning, order releases and inventory across sites. You will work with operations, QA, warehousing, purchasing and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and efficient stock levels.

You will apply strong analytical skills, Excel proficiency and ERP/MRP experience to drive improvements, support bids and ramp-up planning while upholding compliance with AS9100 standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience authorising and managing order releases and ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Develop and control inventory plans and optimise inventory levels.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis tools (advanced Excel; ERP/MRP).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence across functions.
  • Ability to work under general direction with sound judgment on material and scheduling decisions.
  • Typically 6–8 years’ relevant supply chain, planning or materials management experience with increasing responsibility; equivalents considered.
  • Experience with global supply chain coordination and multi-site inventory planning.
  • Experience initiating and conducting inventory/process audits.
  • Track record of implementing SCM process improvements and establishing best practices.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100) and compliance requirements.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., APICS CPIM/CSCP, ISM CPSM).
  • Proficient user of SAP, Apriso or other advanced ERP/MRP planning tools.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse complex material requirements and verify BOM and production schedules in planning systems.
  • Initiate, coordinate and authorize release of purchase and production orders.
  • Develop and control inventory plans; set safety stock and reorder points.
  • Document and resolve order delinquencies; report schedule issues.
  • Initiate and participate in inventory and process audits to ensure stock record integrity.
  • Lead cross-functional SCM improvements and implement best practices.
  • Assist in estimates and schedules for new business proposals.
  • Coordinate with operations, QA, warehousing, purchasing, engineering, suppliers and customers to resolve supply issues.
  • Generate SCM performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist with end of month activities and provide cover within the team.
