Job summary

National Energy System Operator (NESO) is seeking a Supplier Performance and Risk Manager to design and implement supplier performance and third‑party risk approaches, manage strategic suppliers, and collaborate with procurement, legal, compliance and finance.

The role offers hybrid working from office and home with potential Wokingham or Warwick base; requires experience in complex or public sector environments; salary £70,000-£75,000 plus up to 15% bonus and pension.

Qualifications

• Experience leading supplier performance and risk activities in a regulated or public sector environment.
• Ability to design operating models, frameworks and governance for supplier risk and performance.
• Experience embedding governance, controls, escalation, and reporting standards.
• Experience presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders and driving remediation.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret supplier data and identify issues.
• Knowledge of supplier risk management principles and contingency planning.
• Ability to challenge senior stakeholders and advise on interventions.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement across procurement, legal, compliance and finance.
• Experience coaching or leading colleagues in supplier performance workstreams.
• Ability to prioritise and deliver across multiple workstreams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement supplier performance SOPs aligned to NESO objectives.
• Develop and implement supplier risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
• Own the standard supplier scorecard to measure contracts on quality, delivery, cost, sustainability, resilience and value.
• Establish and own supplier risk registers with governance, escalation routes and assurance.
• Prepare clear supplier performance and risk reports for senior stakeholders.
• Oversee supplier performance and contractual compliance assurance.
• Provide oversight of supplier risk management processes.
• Collaborate with procurement, legal, compliance, finance and business stakeholders to embed practices.
• Provide guidance and training on SOPs and best practices.
• Monitor industry trends and evolving standards in supplier risk.
