Job summary

Marchant Recruitment in Birmingham is seeking an experienced School Business Manager to lead the financial, operational and administrative functions of a high-performing secondary school.

The role oversees budgeting, HR, payroll, procurement, premises, health & safety, compliance and reporting to Governors. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors to support strategic planning and school improvement.

Qualifications

• Previous School Business Management experience essential.
• Experience with school finance systems, MIS platforms and HR processes advantageous.
• Excellent organisational and financial skills with ability to prioritise in a busy school.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budgeting and monthly monitoring.
• Work with Headteacher and Governors on financial strategy.
• Oversee HR administration, payroll and staffing processes.
• Manage procurement, contracts and supplier relationships.
• Oversee premises, estates and facilities.
• Ensure health & safety, compliance and risk management.
• Support recruitment and staff onboarding processes.
• Prepare financial and operational reports for Governors.
• Manage administrative systems and support school improvement planning.
