Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking an experienced Programme/Project Lead to head strategic engagement across UK water infrastructure SROs. You will act as the single point of contact for a portfolio of connected schemes, aligning regulatory activity with technical and stakeholder input to deliver sustainable water resilience.

You will coordinate workstreams, manage governance, and report to senior leaders, working with Area Directors, water companies and partner organisations in a flexible/hybrid

Qualifications

• Experience leading large programmes or projects with governance oversight.
• Ability to identify and manage risks, escalating issues through governance routes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership by defining and communicating Area ambition for SRO schemes and balancing opportunities, risks and regulatory outcomes.
• Coordinate resources and expertise to ensure the right skills, teams and partners are engaged on time.
• Manage programme-level risks, anticipating issues early, resolving barriers and escalating concerns that could impact regulatory progress.
• Build relationships with water companies, Natural England, Natural Resources Wales and internal teams to drive collaboration and delivery.
• Provide clear reporting and governance updates to senior leaders and programme boards.
• Steer technical coordination, overseeing SRO Coordinators and ensuring technical requirements are understood and delivered.
• Champion consistent communications and engagement across all channels.
