Job summary

Canal & River Trust seeks a strategic SRO/WRMP Development Manager to lead long-term water resource opportunities, securing its position within WRMPs and SROs across the UK. You will work with water companies, regulators and partners to shape opportunities that deliver environmental, social and commercial value.

This role emphasizes trusted partnerships and major projects that may take years to develop, with regular nationwide travel and a remote-working basis, attended at hubs as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a water-related field.
• Experience developing opportunities in UK water/utilities sectors.
• Experience negotiating complex commercial/funding deals.
• Strong understanding of project development and business case processes.
• Ability to interpret technical/environmental information for decision-making.
• Knowledge of UK water resource planning frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop and promote canal-based water resource opportunities within WRMPs/SROs.
• Build relationships with water companies, regulators and partners; influence planning decisions.
• Develop business cases and strategic propositions demonstrating value of assets.
