Job summary

University of Salford seeks a Research Excellence Manager to drive the quality, culture and impact of its research. You will lead REF readiness and enhance the university’s research intelligence to inform strategy and decision making.

You will translate complex external requirements into clear institutional guidance, shape the research impact agenda, and work with senior colleagues to deliver measurable improvements in research performance and knowledge exchange.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the University’s research impact agenda, developing and implementing institutional approaches that deliver continuous improvement in impact generation, development, capture and demonstration.
• Champion a culture where research impact is recognised, planned, evaluated and celebrated, working across the University to show how impact supports the mission.
• Lead the development, implementation and capture of evidence and indicators to demonstrate the quality and vitality of the research and knowledge exchange environment.
• Lead the University’s planning, preparation and delivery for the REF, ensuring a coordinated, compliant and high-quality submission on time.
• Translate national research assessment policy requirements into institutional policies, processes, systems and guidance.
